WOW where have I been...

it's been 6 MONTHS, since I last posted anything...ouch! well I have lots of great excuses: here we go: June, July, August I was trapped at the cottage with NO internet!, September moved back to town found out I am pregnant ( morning sickness 24/7) October...???? I don't even remember it was such a blur. November..I know it's only the 13th but it's been crazy, between finding flu shots, and fighting off regular colds, finding out my mom has breast cancer ( her operation was this afternoon) and balancing my own doctor's appointments. WOW! gotta take a breath and slow down. I am finally back into the scrapping and card making. I have a Christmas card class scheduled for the 21st and 22nd this month. Hopefully it'll go well. the picture above is one of the cards we'll be making. I know I've said this before but I am going to try my darnedest to keep up with this blog I have lots of scrapbook pages to show off and tons of cards guess now my major task will be to find the JPEGS of the makings.

flip flop album---mother's day gift.

I made a flip flop album for my mother in law. She recently got back from Cuba and I saw this paper and brown flip flops and threw it together. I had looked on line for a tutorial on how to do it since I had only seen 1, as a finished product. I found a site that sells them but no instructions on how to do it. So I looked closely at the pics and figured my own way...and now I have 2 made and want to make more! It was fun and they look so neat when they are done. Awesome coffee table book. Show off you're favorite pics in a unique manner. Wanna know how I did it? Send me an email I'll describe in full detail with pics.

my new work space

I think I was in desperate need of a new work area...I haven't got much blogging done because I haven't done much of anything else. Cynthia and I had 3 classes in the last 2 weeks so I have been really busy for that. They went very well and we have another one this Sunday. But anyways back to my new work space. I bought the Sauder project organizer today at Canadian tire. It's the best $200 I've spent. looks great holds a lot of stuff. forgot to save room for my "big shot" though. Well there's room on my desk for that I guess. I promise I will get back to updating this regularly. Maybe I'll get some pictures for Sunday's class up too.

Stationary box

This is the coolest project I have done so far...I LOVE IT!!! it was so easy to do too. The box is a nice size and when you take the lid off it's full of surprises: a space for full size cards, love cards (3x3), a note pad, gift tags, a pen holder and an envelope for stamps. I used the delicate dots designer paper and some fun little embellishments. I love the look of the hemp with delicate dots. anyways, here's the tutorial on the stationary box. Try it you will be pleasantly surprised!

sorry I haven't posted in so long!

Well the gala has come and gone..not bad I shall say. Thanks to those of you who came! I went to Evelyn's meeting and I think my 3x3 card was a hit everyone said "aww cute" when I swapped with them. My up line's up line has decided to call a meeting for us girls. So in preparation for this we have to create a tag (actually 6 all same) for a tag swap at this meeting. I already finished mine, did them today while Dex napped for 2 hours! I'm really happy with how they turned out. I found the tutorial on "youtube" and the card is called a " no waste criss cross card" I just made it half the size of a regular card. To make this darling "tag" I used the new delicate dots paper from the sale-a-bration catalogue and the so saffron designer series. Since I used silver brads for the flower and ribbon pull, I thought I'd emboss a nice saying in silver to match. The stamp is from "a beautiful thing" set and my flower's from the dollar store...SHHH! don't tell anyone! :-) I almost forgot the leaf...it's from my ABC Images stamp set and I coloured it using my Old Olive pastel and my blender pen. I originally used the cerntainly celery but it wasn't dark enough for my liking. Isn't it just Delicate!?!?! ;-)

2 days to the Gala!

I want to take this (quiet) second to thank all of you who have decided to come to my Gala. I appreciate the support and interest in my hobby. I have a lot to do to be ready for Saturday night and I'm so excited about it! For those of you who can't make it I'm sure we'll get together in the near future if it's something you're interested in. Thanks again!

Another circle album

this one I did with a circle cutter set at 5 1/2" to see how small it would end up being, not too bad, it's definitely a "pocket" sized album. Perfect for photo booth sized pictures...if they are even around anymore. I love the bright paper I used, it was scraps from Cynthia, they just popped on the black cardstock. The second album was easier (with the practice I suppose) and it was finished in 1 & 1/2 hours but I can't really compare it to the larger one because there's a pretty big size difference. I'm thinking these would be great little albums for the desk or dresser.

albums...

I've tried 2 new albums over the last few days and I have to say they turned out quite good. I have the pictures posted in my slide show but I'll add one to this blog too. I think my favorite is the "flip flop" album but the "circle flip up" album looks awesome when it's finished but it's just a little more tricky for making the templates. The flip flop album is not made with flip flops (shoes), I do plan to make one of those once I find a tutorial. I will have a class on how to make this flip flop album probably right before the summer. We'll do it using the "simply scrappin' " sets from SU! and it'll probably be a choice of 2 or 3 patterns. The circle album is a sweet center piece for any table. Seems like maybe a christmas album to me.... We'll see. Approx. time I spent on the flip flop album....5 hours for the first one...2 hours on the second one ( not pictured) the circle flip up album time was about 4 hours and haven't attempted another yet (been sick with a head cold). Overall I'd rate the the flip flop as a class project and the circle flip up as a need to attempt a few more times first.

My new project...

So I'm a huge horror fan so when I saw these adorable Frankenstein Boxes, I was hooked! I've only made the one but I do plan to make some once I get more card stock. They are a great treat bag for special "trick or treaters" or even fun party favors. As I sat and followed the tutorial on how to make this darling little creature I thought up other characters I can make in the same fashion, so I tried one...BIG BIRD. Heehee! I'd have to say I am quite happy with the result, I just got to figure out a better "beak" solution (If anyone has one , please let me know!?!?!). p.s I made a flip album today and once all the glue is dry I'll take some pics and post it...It's really pretty! Well I think so! :-)

Busy day!

Went out to my upline's (Cynthia) today. Did some finishing touches on my 3x3 cards for Evelyn's demo meeting and I borrowed a few stamp sets to play with and got a crap load of scrap paper from her. So much in fact it took me over an hour just to sort it by colour...lol! I have so much ready for the gala, it's just a few little things I have to do... :-) I have a few project ideas floating in my head can't wait to get a minute to myself so I can start them....as always once they are done they'll be posted for you to admirer..kidding! Anyways, it is late and I have another busy day tomorrow. Good night and I'll be back tomorrow with something I did the other day....can't wai tto share it with you all, just need to "tweak" it up a little...see ya then!

New Stamp Sets

I bought 3 new (to me) stamp sets today and I can't wait to use them. I rearranged my work space tonight so I didn't get any scrapping done, but this afternoon while Dexter napped I got my stamps for the 3x3 cards cut out and attached to my background with pop ups. Yay! So the sets I bought today are: bold basics, Delight in life and springtime stems. As I said I can't wait to try 'em out!

p.s. I am working on a design for personal gift certificates, for my clientele in case someone needs a gift but doesn't know exactly what the person they are buying for wants. I think I'll make them so they'll be any denomination for convenience. I can't wait to have them done. They'll be ready for the gala, so if any one wants them.

March 28th --Gala

I'm starting to get nervous about my gala...so far I only have 5 people coming...that's not nearly enough. I think I'm going to have to post an invite on kijiji...why not..I can decide on who I let come or not....Anyways, please if you know anyone who you think would enjoy this FREE event pass along the invite or this site. I need to know all who are attending by March 20th, for supplies and refreshments quantities. My young son will be here (with my mother watching him) so if someone has to bring the baby it is ok but this is intended for adults. We wanna have fun and "let down our hair" don't we??? Keep me posted if you want to come, it's going to be so much fun, just send me an email.
p.s. I didn't get around to taking the pictures I promised yesterday I was busy starting my 3x3 cards for Evelyn's meeting on the 29th March. Sorry! I'll get them done asap..keep checking my slide show.

Demo's meeting

Well I just read that I am supposed to design 20 cards for the demo's meeting on the 29th of March, yes the day after my gala. Guess I'm gonna have to crack down and design something 100% SU! Humm...to get my brain working may take a little kick. Oh well, I work better under pressure. heehee! 20 cards..I wonder why....this will be interesting...

oh by the way, I've made a bunch of those post it note covers ( a dozen+) and tomorrow if it's sunny out I will get the pics taken so I can post them. They are so cute, and as soon as I get my butt in gear you can purchase them at Sandstones Gallery in Moncton (in the Blue cross building to be exact). I just love the look of them and they are so simple. Well I should go to bed...I've got some designs to dream up!

Tuesday...

We'll I have to say the day I had today wasn't one of a scrapper...I have been suffering ( kidding) with a teething baby...so needless to say I haven't got much done in the last couple of days. But I have managed to make 8 of those post it note covers, and I made a trek to the dollar store for some miscellaneous supplies: glue, velcro, fibers, index cards, etc.
I've been trying to come up with ideas for my opening gala and I think with Cynthia's help I've got it figured out. I am set in theory, now I just need to take action...make sure I have enough supplies, snacks (which I won't get yet) and an awesome door prize or two.
I still feel like today was a waste but as a mom I am entitled to put my teething, miserable feeling son first...so I did! :-)

Post it notes covers

I love this, I found it on Chic n' scratch site. Of course mine is a little modified but generally the same. The cover I used some pattern paper I had laying around but I used SU! 's chocolate chip designer series on the inside and matching ink pad. The stamps are from simply said rubber stamp set. The ribbon was a small piece I had around too. I try to use every little scrap: paper, ribbon, even glue. I look pretty funny scraping the glue out of the bottom of the glue stick with my pinky finger so I can use all of it. HAHA!

Check out my NEW features!

Hi! my hubby finally got some of his projects done for me. The slide show which he wrote the application for, mouse over the pictures see what happens...pretty nifty hun? The flowers in my header are now "buttons" mouse over one of the first two, see the option?? now click it! I will have something for each flower soon, but he DOES have a day job so I got to take the work I get when it given.
Today I didn't do much scrappin' of my own, I went to Cynthia's (my upline) all occasions card class. Sometimes it's nice to have someone think for you. It was fun, now I really can't wait to get my classes started. I'm even thinking about doing 12x12 album pages as classes. Please let me know what you'd like to see in a class and I'll do my best to accomodate.
P.S. DON'T FORGET TO SET YOUR CLOCKS AHEAD TONIGHT!!!!

Decorative Tin

I searched high and low for a tin to decorate yesterday. I thought for sure I had an altoids one somewhere..oh well I didn't but I did have this band-aid one. I like the way it came out, it was white and red so I used that to help my colour choices. I then heat embossed it with "happiness" and figured I better fill it with something that makes me happy...So, CHOCOLATE it is! KISSES in fact, yum!

14 cards in 2.5 hours!

WOW! you'd say I was crazy but that's what I did this morning while my son took his nap. I had my focal stamps pre-stamped and water coloured. I got a new Aqua pen yesterday!! I love the look of water colour stamps. Unfortunately because I'm still new I don't have all the proper products (water colour paper and staz on ink). But overall I am happy with my outcome.
I don't have room to post all the cards I made this morning so check out my slide show to see them. If you click on it it'll bring up my web album and captions. If you have any questions or suggestions about my cards feel free to email me.

New cards

I have a goal today: to make 6 new cards. I have made 2 already they are for a new baby boy...or girl but the cards are blue. Turquoise to be exact. I love the way they turned out! Even hubby likes them. Once I get the other 4 finished I'll post them too.

I did good I managed to take a shower and make 2 cards during Dexter's 1 hour nap. Talk about a time management pro!?! Just goes to how easy it is to make a "beautiful, from the heart and personal" card that's easy on the pocket book too (the 2 cards cost me under $2, including the heat embossing).
Go on and try one for yourself, you won't ever buy a $5.49 card again!

Happy Birthday Karma!

We went to a birthday party tonight and had a great time. Dexter was so well behaved. The reason why I'm posting this is to tell you about the Birthday card I made for the special birthday girl. I used my SU! starter kit, of course! The paper is lovely lilac, and basic black, the stamp sets are "simply said" and "warm words" and I used black and lilac ink as well. The ribbon came from the dollar store but it shows how well Stampin' Up! coordinates with everything. I use other company's items but only to accent my SU! products, besides who's going to know if I used SU!'s glue tape or the dollar store's...I mean really? Anyways, I hope you like the picture. I got the inspiration from split coast stampers, again...I love that site. I probably spend a couple hours everyday there.

Party invites

There! They are done and ready, the invites for Dexter's first birthday that is...so if you get one of these just pretend that you haven't seen it. I used Stampin' Up's Tangerine tango, tempting turquoise, and green galore cardstock. I used the sliding card technique that I love and found on split cost stampers and the "you're a blast" rocket stamp from "pun fun"stamp set by SU!. The only thing that I didn't use by Stampin' Up is the thin green ribbon on the top of the pull card.
I colored the rocket using my pastels and a blender pen (from my starter kit), I never used this technique before but I like it! It was so simple! For the info on the inside of the card I used the fonts comic sans ms and font diner dot com sparkly from dafont.com, have I ever mentioned how much I love that site!?!?!
TA-DA!!! A nice invite suitable for child's birthday party!

finally my kit is here!

It (my starter kit) actually showed up on Wednesday and I've been busy testing my new stamps out that I haven't been around to post...sorry! anyways. I am working on ideas for my gala. My "I joined Stampin' up" party. If you want to come just send me an email. The party is free and there will be "make 'em & take 'em's", snacks, wine, and friends. I have my son's birthday party invites almost done and as soon as I do I will post the picture and explain what I did. They are super cute! Well that's it for now...I'll be back shortly!

Monday, February 23, 2009

still no kit!!

wow! 20 days and counting on waiting for my starter kit...not entirely Stampin' up's fault or UPS for that matter...MOTHER NATURE is to blame!!! Snow Friday and Monday make for a long waiting time. Oh well I know it's here in the city, it's just gotta get to my door. I'll let ya know tomorrow if it finally shows.

Classes coming up

I've made plans with Cynthia to have 2 card classes and 2 gift tag classes. They are on my calendar so check it out, all the details that we have so far are there. Once we hammer out anymore info I'll make sure to post it. Hope to see you there!

awaiting my delivery...

I am feeling anxious today...my starter kit should arrive today. But we did have a little storm yesterday so I'm worried it'll be delayed. Also Wednesday my father in law passed away, so today is the funeral service. Not exactly looking forward to that, death is so uncomfortable to begin with but when you have to see those close to you suffer, it's just that much worse. I'm just glad my son is young enough to not understand, I don't feel confident enough to explain death to him, not yet anyways, I'm sure sometime we'll have to but I rather start small, like with a pet..not a grandfather. Sorry for the darkness of this entry. I will get scrapping soon. My blog is still being fine tuned also so keep coming back to check out new features. :-)

3 days and counting...

I'm sorry I have no new projects to display but I am anxiously awaiting my starter kit...look out once it arrives, I'll be scraping all weekend long. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to take the best picture of the project? lighting, background, camera settings? I can test them out but if someone has a tried and true method I'd really like to know. The better my picture shows my craft the better you can inspire from it! Thanks all!

New Page

THERE!!! Ain't it pretty? My blog I mean....My hubby worked all weekend at it...and we're still going to add some new features later on. It's all done using real paper and ribbons and stamps and our scanner of course. I love it! I can't believe he spent that much time on it, well I guess I can considering how good it looks. Probably looks like it took him longer than it did. We have a different slide show to add and extra pages...and some tweaks here and there. Well it's not bad for a beginner blog page....if anyone wants a personalized page my hubby says he'll do it if ya wanna pay through the roof! lol! P.S. 4 days till my starter kit arrives!!!!

Valentine cards for sale

Well, I finally got my valentine cards over to my cousin's store: Sandstones Gallery. It's in the blue cross building on Main st. It's really a beautiful store, if you need something unique and want to support local artists that's the place to go. She has everything there such as chocolates, soaps, cards, jewelry, candles, flowers, woodworking items, gem stones, even quilts sometimes and of course paintings and other artwork pieces.
As a good cousin she has taken in my cards to sell on consignment too. You can tell which ones are mine, they are stamped on the back with a "hand stamped by Angela" stamp (of course with the copyright for stampin' up logo). For those of you wondering what that means Stampin' up has a policy where you an sell the items made with their stamps but it must has the copyright on it, it's called Stamin' up's Angel policy. Just being a good Demo...
Valentine's day is this Saturday, and hubby and I are going to spend some time together so I won't hav any new posts until after the weekend. To everyone out there have a great Valentine's day and a happy weekend.

birthday card as promised

Hey there!
As predicted I got to make a card for my grandmother and even made one for my cousin too (her birthday is Valentine's day). So first for my grandmother's card I used pink card textured card stock then added two layers of brown 1 plain and 1 flower patterned. The happy birthday stamp was heat embossed. I added brads to the corners, a button heart to the watering can and floral ribbon. I think it turned out pretty good. I wanted something simple yet eloquent.

The card for my cousin is all purple because it's her favorite colour (she's going to be six). I heat embossed flowers all over the card and also heat embossed the "happy birthday balloons" all in an iridescent powder. I used a flower brad also in purple and just highlighted the happy birthday with a small piece of white paper. On the inside I used purple striped ribbon to make a frame to focus on the note.

February 9th

Today is my son's 10 month "birthday". Already, but that means we're that much closer to his 1st birthday. I have to get on with the design of his birthday invites and get those out. Also my grandmother is 82 tomorrow so I need to make her a birthday card...I'm waiting for my official last order from Cynthia to arrive today and with it I will make my Grammy the perfect birthday card for her. I'll post the picture once it's done. I'm guessing after Dexter goes to bed tonight will be my time to craft. So until later, ready set, stamp!

In the "works"

I have a few ideas rolling in my head about up coming projects. I'm still awaiting the arrival of my starter kit so these ideas are only in my mind. But I figured I'll tell you so I won't forget later. hahaha! First off I've got to plan my "Gala" projects. I'm thinking of doing 2 cards and a bookmark. Since it's during March 1 card may have an Easter theme. The other project on my to do list is the party invitations for my son's first birthday. I can't wait these are going to be bright, fun and "all boy"ish. Once these are done I will post pictures.
I should really get some scrapping done...I plan to do a large book (12x12) of my son from birth to 1 year. I have taken a picure of him every week and on he 9th of every month (he was born April 9th). I plan to have the first page just a single picture (his first one) then each 2 page spread I'll have the week 1, 2, 3, 4 and 1 month pictures then the next 2 pags will be week5, 6, 7, 8, and 2 months, etc. should be a large book by the time I'm done 26 pages. I want the last page to be a picture of him eating his cake on his birthday. Think it'll be the best gift to me, and I'll keep it for his "wife" someday.
well until next time: Ready, set stamp!

Day 2

I have added a slide show of projects I've done. Remember I just became a demo so I don't have many of my own projects posted. I've gone to several classes that's where the majority of the picture come from. As soon as my starter kit comes in I'll be in full swing of things and have products I'll actually want to work with. The interactive cards (pop up, slider& flip) I found tutorials on and loved, so I did the decorating but the actual mechanics of them is borrowed. I do plan to have classes where these different and fun interactive cards will be featured. Until next time...Ready, set, stamp!

First day on the "blog"

I figured I better follow suit and get a blog. This will be a easy way for everyone to keep tabs on me. I chose the name "Ready, Set, Stamp!" because I have a knack for cruising through the classes I attend. I promise to do my best at keeping the tempo of my classes comfortable. So for now this is it...I will blog more I just need to fine tune my page and think of something to write! hahaha.
