Happy Birthday Karma!

We went to a birthday party tonight and had a great time. Dexter was so well behaved. The reason why I'm posting this is to tell you about the Birthday card I made for the special birthday girl. I used my SU! starter kit, of course! The paper is lovely lilac, and basic black, the stamp sets are "simply said" and "warm words" and I used black and lilac ink as well. The ribbon came from the dollar store but it shows how well Stampin' Up! coordinates with everything. I use other company's items but only to accent my SU! products, besides who's going to know if I used SU!'s glue tape or the dollar store's...I mean really? Anyways, I hope you like the picture. I got the inspiration from split coast stampers, again...I love that site. I probably spend a couple hours everyday there.

Party invites

There! They are done and ready, the invites for Dexter's first birthday that is...so if you get one of these just pretend that you haven't seen it. I used Stampin' Up's Tangerine tango, tempting turquoise, and green galore cardstock. I used the sliding card technique that I love and found on split cost stampers and the "you're a blast" rocket stamp from "pun fun"stamp set by SU!. The only thing that I didn't use by Stampin' Up is the thin green ribbon on the top of the pull card.
I colored the rocket using my pastels and a blender pen (from my starter kit), I never used this technique before but I like it! It was so simple! For the info on the inside of the card I used the fonts comic sans ms and font diner dot com sparkly from dafont.com, have I ever mentioned how much I love that site!?!?!
TA-DA!!! A nice invite suitable for child's birthday party!

My "I joined Stampin' up" party. If you want to come just send me an email. The party is free and there will be "make 'em & take 'em's", snacks, wine, and friends. I have my son's birthday party invites almost done and as soon as I do I will post the picture and explain what I did. They are super cute! Well that's it for now...I'll be back shortly!

Oh well I know it's here in the city, it's just gotta get to my door. I'll let ya know tomorrow if it finally shows.

awaiting my delivery...

I am feeling anxious today...my starter kit should arrive today. But we did have a little storm yesterday so I'm worried it'll be delayed. Also Wednesday my father in law passed away, so today is the funeral service. Not exactly looking forward to that, death is so uncomfortable to begin with but when you have to see those close to you suffer, it's just that much worse. I'm just glad my son is young enough to not understand, I don't feel confident enough to explain death to him, not yet anyways, I'm sure sometime we'll have to but I rather start small, like with a pet..not a grandfather. Sorry for the darkness of this entry. I will get scrapping soon. My blog is still being fine tuned also so keep coming back to check out new features. :-)

3 days and counting...

I'm sorry I have no new projects to display but I am anxiously awaiting my starter kit...look out once it arrives, I'll be scraping all weekend long. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to take the best picture of the project? lighting, background, camera settings? I can test them out but if someone has a tried and true method I'd really like to know. The better my picture shows my craft the better you can inspire from it! Thanks all!

New Page

THERE!!! Ain't it pretty? My blog I mean....My hubby worked all weekend at it...and we're still going to add some new features later on. It's all done using real paper and ribbons and stamps and our scanner of course. I love it! I can't believe he spent that much time on it, well I guess I can considering how good it looks. Probably looks like it took him longer than it did. We have a different slide show to add and extra pages...and some tweaks here and there. Well it's not bad for a beginner blog page....if anyone wants a personalized page my hubby says he'll do it if ya wanna pay through the roof! lol! P.S. 4 days till my starter kit arrives!!!!

Valentine cards for sale

Well, I finally got my valentine cards over to my cousin's store: Sandstones Gallery. It's in the blue cross building on Main st. It's really a beautiful store, if you need something unique and want to support local artists that's the place to go. She has everything there such as chocolates, soaps, cards, jewelry, candles, flowers, woodworking items, gem stones, even quilts sometimes and of course paintings and other artwork pieces.
As a good cousin she has taken in my cards to sell on consignment too. You can tell which ones are mine, they are stamped on the back with a "hand stamped by Angela" stamp (of course with the copyright for stampin' up logo). For those of you wondering what that means Stampin' up has a policy where you an sell the items made with their stamps but it must has the copyright on it, it's called Stamin' up's Angel policy. Just being a good Demo...
Valentine's day is this Saturday, and hubby and I are going to spend some time together so I won't hav any new posts until after the weekend. To everyone out there have a great Valentine's day and a happy weekend.

birthday card as promised

Hey there!
As predicted I got to make a card for my grandmother and even made one for my cousin too (her birthday is Valentine's day). So first for my grandmother's card I used pink card textured card stock then added two layers of brown 1 plain and 1 flower patterned. The happy birthday stamp was heat embossed. I added brads to the corners, a button heart to the watering can and floral ribbon. I think it turned out pretty good. I wanted something simple yet eloquent.

The card for my cousin is all purple because it's her favorite colour (she's going to be six). I heat embossed flowers all over the card and also heat embossed the "happy birthday balloons" all in an iridescent powder. I used a flower brad also in purple and just highlighted the happy birthday with a small piece of white paper. On the inside I used purple striped ribbon to make a frame to focus on the note.

February 9th

Today is my son's 10 month "birthday". Already, but that means we're that much closer to his 1st birthday. I have to get on with the design of his birthday invites and get those out. Also my grandmother is 82 tomorrow so I need to make her a birthday card...I'm waiting for my official last order from Cynthia to arrive today and with it I will make my Grammy the perfect birthday card for her. I'll post the picture once it's done. I'm guessing after Dexter goes to bed tonight will be my time to craft. So until later, ready set, stamp!

In the "works"

I have a few ideas rolling in my head about up coming projects. I'm still awaiting the arrival of my starter kit so these ideas are only in my mind. But I figured I'll tell you so I won't forget later. hahaha! First off I've got to plan my "Gala" projects. I'm thinking of doing 2 cards and a bookmark. Since it's during March 1 card may have an Easter theme. The other project on my to do list is the party invitations for my son's first birthday. I can't wait these are going to be bright, fun and "all boy"ish. Once these are done I will post pictures.
I should really get some scrapping done...I plan to do a large book (12x12) of my son from birth to 1 year. I have taken a picure of him every week and on he 9th of every month (he was born April 9th). I plan to have the first page just a single picture (his first one) then each 2 page spread I'll have the week 1, 2, 3, 4 and 1 month pictures then the next 2 pags will be week5, 6, 7, 8, and 2 months, etc. should be a large book by the time I'm done 26 pages. I want the last page to be a picture of him eating his cake on his birthday. Think it'll be the best gift to me, and I'll keep it for his "wife" someday.
well until next time: Ready, set stamp!

Day 2

I have added a slide show of projects I've done. Remember I just became a demo so I don't have many of my own projects posted. I've gone to several classes that's where the majority of the picture come from. As soon as my starter kit comes in I'll be in full swing of things and have products I'll actually want to work with. The interactive cards (pop up, slider& flip) I found tutorials on and loved, so I did the decorating but the actual mechanics of them is borrowed. I do plan to have classes where these different and fun interactive cards will be featured. Until next time...Ready, set, stamp!

First day on the "blog"

I figured I better follow suit and get a blog. This will be a easy way for everyone to keep tabs on me. I chose the name "Ready, Set, Stamp!" because I have a knack for cruising through the classes I attend. I promise to do my best at keeping the tempo of my classes comfortable. So for now this is it...I will blog more I just need to fine tune my page and think of something to write! hahaha.
